Freshly harvested honey directly from the city of Herne in the Horsthausen district. The jar contains only what the bees have found in the early months (Feb-May). Please note that the honey changes its consistency from liquid to solid during storage. This is not a loss of quality, but a natural process, as no other artificial substances are added to stop this process! If you want to consume this honey as a liquid again, simply heat it in a bain-marie at 40 degrees with the lid open and stir after a while, then it will be liquid again! All ingredients and flavors are preserved! Herne honey 500g Horsthausen

Description

City honey Herner Honig Horsthausen

Our urban honey Herner Honig 500g from the Horsthausen district is a real all-rounder with high quality: it is a healthy taste experience on its own or as a sweet spread and is an excellent addition to sweet and savory dishes. Urban beekeeping has also developed into a forward-looking trend in North Rhine-Westphalia. Because in contrast to many rural areas, according to experts, the urban habitats are for the western honeybees Apis mellifera currently much better designed. Thanks to the lush and varied vegetation in Herne, there is an abundant supply of food for the busy honey bees. We have therefore decided to offer honey specialties from Herne with our Apis mellifera carnica – a subspecies of the western honeybee.

Stadthonig Herne honey – 500g enjoyment with a clear conscience

Our honey from Herne is absolutely regional and is elaborately produced by hand. Due to the abundant nature and variety of flowers, we offer it exclusively online. From the beehive, the busy bees travel within a flight radius of three to five kilometers. There they collect high-quality nectar on flowering balconies, avenues, fallow land, roof terraces, gardens, parks, courtyards or traffic islands, for example. Another advantage is that it is generally much warmer in cities. The honey bees are active for much longer and the honey yield is higher compared to rural apiaries. In addition, the living conditions in city locations are better for the bee colonies. Few to no pesticides are sprayed here and the food supply is guaranteed. In addition, there is no need to worry about exhaust fumes and fine dust pollution. Bees are able to filter the pollutants out of the honey. You can find more information here .

Honey bees are the new pets

Along with cattle and pigs, bees are among the most important livestock. Unfortunately, the number of bee colonies is falling steadily. The reasons for the acute bee deaths are possibly the widespread use of pesticides, monocultures and the introduction of the Varroa mite . In order to counteract this development, the idea of building a city beekeeping in Wanne-Eickel matured. In the meantime, our project has been crowned with success and the yield has become so large that we can market our original city honey Herner Honig 500g online.

Environmental education made easy

With the purchase of every single glass you support regional kindergartens and elementary schools. We take children and educators into the fascinating world of honey bees. Bees are important to most of our diverse ecological systems. Both wild and honey bees are threatened in their habitats. It is important to us to introduce children to the fragile world of small pollinator insects.

In an informative, playful and creative way, the children not only learn a lot about the biology of bees and their way of life. You will also learn what importance bees have for us humans, to what extent we benefit from their pollination and where we can help so that there will soon be more flowering habitats for wild and honey bees again.

In order to meet the requirements of teachers and educators as well as children of different ages, €1 is invested in the development of these project days through the sale of a 500g jar of honey from the city of Herne, in order to promote bees in the long term.
